Violent crimes at worksites continue to endanger lives, increase liability, and threaten profitability.
While strangers can account for such actions, often the most difficult challenges arise from disturbed or disgruntled employees who act out, or from domestic violence that follows an individual to his or her place of employment.
In addition to the often tragic human impact, workplace violence is expensive. Following an incident, companies can face the repercussions of:- Containment and cleanup
- Tighter security measures
- Employee absence
- Business interruption
- Low employee morale/productivity
- Negative publicity
- Liability
- Higher insurance premiums
- Consulting fees
- Court costs and litigation
Excellence in prevention and response can translate into substantial savings. Our leadership and learning and development teams have studied this explosive issue for many years; in addition to sharing our knowledge with clients, we prepare all security officers to recognize and reduce possible problems.
Guardsmark’s comprehensive learning and development program includes an interactive DVD on the subject, as well as videos and periodic bulletins. We provide specific education about:- Warning signs
- Triggers
- Incident reporting
- Threat assessment
- Site analysis
- Monitoring of physical access and common areas
- Visitor tracking
- Safe termination practices
Our people take all potential threats seriouslyeven those that may seem minor. The result is a vigilance that effectively reduces incidents, and an appropriate and professional response to those that do occur. |

A storm-caused power outage led an irate customer to try entering the utility company’s premises. After putting his officers on alert, the Guardsmark supervisor intercepted the intruder. He then calmed down the individualand provided him with emergency service information.
The formerly irate individual left the premises a satisfied customer. |
